Co-ordinator role for Central, Eastern and the Women’s Estate. In 2007 I was acting Governor of Lincoln for 5 months covering sick absence. I retired from the service in June 2011 at the grade of Senior Manager C and the role of Regional Estates Manager for the East Midlands.

In 1998 I stood for election to the PGA National Executive Committee as the Works representative and in 2001 I was elected as a Vice President of the association, a position in which I served until 2008, when I stood down from both this position, and the NEC. After my retirement in 2011 I was awarded Distinguished Life Membership of the PGA. In 2012 I was asked to put myself forward for the position of Treasurer of the RPGA and having done so was duly elected to this role, which I continue to hold today. I married to my wife, Sandy in 1974 and we have 2 sons, the eldest is a sergeant in the police and the youngest is a doctor of nuclear physics. In retirement I have taken a part time role as a Funeral Home Steward and have found it to be an enlightening and humbling position, and one which I thoroughly enjoy.

Born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk in 1954 and educated at St. James Boys and Gaywood Park Secondary Modern schools, left in 1970 at age 16 with no formal qualifications. Joined the Prison Service in May 1976 at Norwich and after training at Leyhill, posted back to Norwich as a Trades Officer. Promoted to Senior Trades Officer in 1983 at Lincoln, and to PO(Works) at Manchester in 1989. Following the Strangeways riot in 1990 posted back to Lincoln but promoted to Gov. 5 and moved to Stocken in 1991. Promoted to Gov. 4 insitu at Stocken in 1993 and in 1996 promoted to Gov. 3 and posted to the position of Area Works Co-ordinator for the Central Area. Various restructuring and organisational changes saw me at various times undertake the Works
