Just before I retired I received a message from someone who had been a Deputy Governor at my first establishment, and who finished his career being Director General of the Prison Service and then the second Chief Executive of the National Offender Manager Service after it was formed. In fact I worked with two Director Generals and a Deputy Director General as well as the first CEO of the Border Control Service .....

MANCHESTER WALKS

It was a very wet Easter Bank Holiday Monday, 1st April, and although I had booked this walk some three weeks earlier, I had not anticipated that it would be quite so wet. The temperature was nothing to write home about either, averaging about 11 degrees Celsius; but all that did not put me off. I should have guessed that the combination of a Bank Holiday and the location of Manchester would not result in a dry day......

A CORONAVIRUS DIARY

It all started when I thought I had come into contact with someone who was infected - during one of my Santa visits (although most of them were FaceTime visits or Zoom). I play Santa every year for a firm called “More Than Just A Princess”. She is a very talented performer and accompanies me as either Elsa or The Chief Elf.
